Jesus’ Kingdom
JK (Jesus’ Kingdom) on Sundays is for children from 2 years of age up to Year 6 in primary school. JK runs during both 8:30am and 10:30am services. During the 10:30am service, Year 6 children are invited to join with the high school RAGE group (see Youth).
JK is a time where children can grow to know King Jesus as their friend, Saviour and Lord, and to learn what it means to belong in his Kingdom.
JK2-3 (for 2-3 year olds), JK3-5 (for 3-5 year olds who are not yet at school), and JK5-8 (for children in Kindergarten and Years 1 & 2 at school), all enjoy many activities in separate programs. Safe and caring environments are our priority – places where they learn the basic truths of our Christian faith through Bible stories and age-relevant activities, and experience the love and nurture of committed leaders.
JK8-12 (Years 3-6 at school) and their leaders, thoroughly enjoy fast-paced, Bible based, relational and extremely creative programs. To get to know each other better, to strengthen relationships and just to have some fun, many of the JK8-12 leaders hold special get-togethers with their small groups during the year.
Twice a year, the 10:30am service is ‘taken over’ by the children for a JK Celebration where the children share what they have been learning and minister to the whole congregation – through drama, craft, video-making, interviews, memory verses, songs. All JK groups, as well as the GearUP band and singers, participate in these Celebrations.
Each year and each holiday period commences with a Kids Praise Time combined with the GearUPgroup. All the GearUP-ers and GearUPband lead games, praise songs, Bible story, prayers and… more games!
To increase the children’s awareness and support of missionaries and missions, we hold an annual Saturday cooking day for JK8-12, followed by a special Sunday Morning Tea to raise money to support one or more of our missionary families.
We also participate in the annual Bible Society Children’s Project to increase the children’s awareness of global needs and to help them experience the joy of serving and supporting others.
For more information on any children’s programs, please contact Pastor Sue Smith or the church office.
